PEOPLE SOUND proudly presents the debut recording from Another Green World, the duo project of Sydney-based pianist Lauren Tsamouras and double bassist Harry Birch.

Since meeting at the Sydney Conservatorium, the two musicians have spent years playing together, developing a refined, focused and delicate approach.
Tsamouras deliberately allowed the piano/double bass duo format to influence and transform her compositional process, resulting in the album’s characteristic sparse textures and subtle yet insistent pacing.

As a unit, Tsamouras and Birch display a remarkable sensitivity in their shared musical intuition; equally comfortable in wide open spaces and lush walls of euphoric harmony.
The music maintains momentum while never feeling rushed, and the solos are eminently melodic and never rely on “chops” for its own sake.

The album’s title both alludes to Tsamouras’ Greek heritage and to the notion of Mother Earth as a giver of life.

Μητέρα / Mytera is an important addition to the new wave of creative music coming out of so-called Australia.

This is both musicians' second appearance on People Sound: Lauren Tsamouras plays on "Mansion" (PS004), and Harry Birch plays on "Golden Walk" by Holopeak (PS007)

I’m just re listening to this beautiful album. It really is gorgeous music!! With the demise of the wang festival it also reminds me of Nadje’s concert with you and Theo a few years back. I did however notice that Theo is not listed in the personnel on Bandcamp . misja carbo
